Is the Idea that unions are “bad” that?
average americans have it too good already? And are just being greedy for wanting health benefits, fair wages, safe working conditions, overtime pay,a paid holiday here and there, sick pay, paid vacation time,or any vacation time at all? Why are SOME conservatives against these things? Do they think if left up to large employers they would just give any of these things to their employees out of the goodness of their hearts?
@how would I know Be sure to thank unions for getting legislation passed so you could enjoy all those things. but I guess your name says it all.
I honestly hope that unions and laws protecting workers go away in my lifetime It would suck but when you work 12hrs a day with no benefits, crap wages, no raises,3 holidays, no sick pay and 10 days of vacation out of more than 265 days a year of work after 5 yrs of loyal service to my apparently too generous employer. I guess no overtime, crappier wages and unsafe working conditions is just a slight step down?
The idea that unions are bad is part of the current assault on American workers in general. The idea is that: workers will no longer pose a threat to corporate management power; that will be accomplished through the destruction of organizations representing employees. More jobs will be outsourced to lower-paid foreign workers without any counter opposition.
Jobs that can’t be outsourced, such as public sector jobs, will have benefits and wages also lowered. The concomitant decline in benefits and wages across the board of most workers will be met without protest.
When the US consumer class diminishes in buying power as a result, foreign markets can be developed. The overall benefit is to the investors who will gain increased profits as a result of the foregoing.
